5 Things I am Grateful for

Hi everyone, it feels great to be back, I was under the weather for the better half of last week.

I couldn’t even put out a post on Friday. I am feeling much better though and ready to tackle this week head on.

Sunday was the 50th day of 2017. It’s no big deal but I am grateful, especially after being sick. Which is why I decided to list the 5 things I am grateful for so far.

1. Sewing -I have always wanted to learn how to sew. It’s just a curiosity that has never left and I’m grateful that I am doing just that now.

I have been doing it for almost a month now and I am progressing quickly – not to toot my own horn- my instructor says so.

I have a dream that one day I won’t have to spend a lot of money on clothes. A dream that one day I will sew everything I want and my mama will be jealous 😈.

2. My Blog – How much love I have for my blog is often underestimated. I am the kind of person who overthinks every little thing and wonders ‘what will people think’ ?, ‘is it good enough’ or ‘am I good enough’ ?.

My blog exhausts me and sometimes I want to take a break but, that tiny smile at the corner of my mouth when I am writing a post or when I get a comment – it’s worth it.

The fact that I am still blogging is a testament to my growing up. Yes, I still panic and feel insecure about myself and the blog sometimes but Ada is getting there!

3. Repj360 – This is the name of my friends’ band (yes my friends are in a band, I am cool like that😎).

Seriously though, it’s easy to give up on your artistic dreams given the way our country regards creatives. It is okay to be a Doctor, Lawyer or Accountant (not that there’s anything wrong with these professions) ,people are always praying for God to help you.

Mention a mixtape however, and what you will hear is ‘this one is not serious’ or ‘you just wasted your parents money’.

These guys keep pushing through and I am really proud of them.  I wish I could support them more but I do too little (God help Me). They have 2 singles and a love mash up which are all wonderful but don’t take my word for it, go to their website and check them out for yourself.

4. My KStote bag – Anyone who reads my blog will know that I am a little a lot obsessed with this bag.

NO I am not being paid to advertise but I am super excited that it’s on its way FINALLY!!!! and I think I will do a style post on it soooooooon.

I absolutely love the inscription on it, it’s artsy and inspirational but not pretentious,  can’t wait to show you guys.

5. My Family – This may sound cliché but I don’t care. I love these people because in their own individual way each one of them has annoyed, inspired and loved me.

I’m grateful, for my DD who always asks about my blog even though he has no idea what it’s s about, for my mama who makes me laugh and who I fight with everyday, for CA who is my third pair of eyes and whose random suggestions are always great and manage to fuel my creativity, for EA who is my photographer and my proofreader (I don’t know what I will do when you guys go back to school) and finally for G.O. who should really show more interest in my blog 😒, but is my IG day 1 nigga.

What are you grateful for, even if you can only name one, I assure you it will go a long way.

Let me know in the comments.

How I Grew My Hair an INCH in ONE WEEK || The Inversion Method

So, tomorrow is Valentine’s day. I have really been struggling with what to post. It’s not as if I didn’t know what to post, I have already scheduled my posts for the month (it’s amazing how organised my blog is compared to the hot mess of a whirlpool that is my life- but I digress).

The thing is almost every blog was doing valentine this valentine that…. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed reading some of them, but valentine has never been a big deal for me whether I was a single pringle or a couple at the time.

So I didn’t have want to do anything very valentine-y but my God the pressure😦, I was already about to cave but I told myself

So this post will be what it was initially supposed to be about LOVE. Love for that beautiful mane on your head. Sorry for the rambling now lets begin.

If you remember my hair regimen post, I mentioned that there were some things I would like to try on my hair. Some hair growth tricks and the Inversion method was one of them and I finally did it.

So I will be telling you what exactly I did, how I did it and my results.

Basically the gist of it is you massage the oil of your choice into your hair while your head is in an inverted or upside down position.
This is to be done for 7 days and is supposed to give you an inch of growth.

However, I modified my own method a bit.

1. I combined coconut, castor and olive oil.

2. I boiled some water, put the oils in a bottle and put said bottle in the water to get the oil mixture warm.

3. I sectioned my twists into 3 and massaged each section for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Then I massaged my whole scalp for 3 minutes.

4. Finally, I inverted my head for 5 minutes.

I did this for 7 days and the pictures below show my results. I should probably have measured them to be sure it was exactly 1 inch but I don’t know why I didn’t.

I think there was some growth probably close to 1 inch so I know the method works because, I didn’t use any other products during the 7 days.

To be honest guys this was really stressful and if not for the fact that I wanted to blog about it I would have quit at day 3.

I think I will do it again maybe later in the year.

So what do you guys think, are you going to try the Inversion method?

Yes? Then please let me know your results

No? Why not?

Book Review || The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty

Currently Reading : The Murder Room By P.D. James

P. S.  There’s a freebie at the end of the post 😁

The Husband’s Secret says

“Imagine that your husband wrote you a letter, to be opened after his death.
Imagine too that the letter contained his deepest darkest secret – something with the potential to destroy not just the life you have built together but the lives of others as well.
Imagine then you stumble across that letter while your husband is still very much alive.”

Celia Fitzpatrick is your average Australian mom. Successful Tupperware saleswoman and mom to three lovely girls everything is perfect; that is until she finds her husband John-Paul’s Letter.

Tess O’Leary’s husband has just let her in on his own secret. This secret has entered her running back to her mother’s house and her ex’s arms – the almost perfect Connor Whitby.

Finally , there’s Racheal Crowley whose daughter was murdered years ago, the killer was never found and nobody knows who the killer is –  except Racheal of course and she is sure of it.

Liane Moriarty makes lives of these people and those around them intertwine in unbelievable ways. This gives a novel that rocks you gently before hitting you with its cold hard unbelievable truths .

I promise you will be totally surprised by the end of this book. It is alsoone of the better mysteries I have read.

It begs the questions:

What will you do to keep your family together ?

Do you think all secrets should be shared between man and wife? and;

In addition, how long and how well can you keep a secret ?

I hope you enjoy the book, and when you are done with it, please don’t hesitate to tell me at you think of it either here on the blog or on my Instagram.

My First Blogging Failure and How I am Dealing with it.

This week kind of started on a bad note for me. I experienced my first major blogging failure. This is what happened:

I had the perfect post all planned out for the blog. All I needed to do was take some pictures this weekend and for several reasons, it fell through.

Even though I have always had some difficulty with pictures, I didn’t expect it to happen now. Why? I planned ahead and did everything right.

I was very disappointed because that would mean I’d have to move all my posts and my social media (especially instagram) around. This is because I tend to schedule and plan everything ahead.

I felt so depressed I said I wasn’t going to post anything this week. I thought after all how many people are reading my blog anyway,  nobody will know.

Then I thought “YOU WILL KNOW”

It’s true I would know and I would feel it even if no one else did. Several bloggers write about their struggles and the various ways they have encountered failure.

I thought ‘well I will handle it when my turn comes’,  but the thing is it’s hard, thats why it’s called a struggle. I felt crushed and just very ‘bleech’, I don’t even think that’s a word.

As I am typing this, I feel better, not great because, I mean I would still love for things to have gone smoothly.

I smiling a bit because I am blogging and it makes me happy.

I am smiling a bit because I know I am thinking up ideas to make that post happen.

I am smiling a lot because I know that I am going to have a post up today.

I am smiling because in small victories like this, I reaffirm my dedication and will to achieve something extraordinary.

So guys my advice to you – even though this is not my forte- is PUSH THROUGH.

Bad and unexpected things are going to happen but if you just keep moving, it gets better.

February 2017 Wishlist || Of Hair Products, Cute bags and Wardrobe Essentials

Hae guys, so first of all happy new month. January seemed like it would never end but here we are.Today, I am sharing my wishlist, mind you not the whole thing , just 5 things out of it so you guys don’t think I am greedy 😁.

These are things I really want to get before the month of February ends. So please feel free to make GENEROUS donations.

1. Obia Naturals :

-Neem tea tree shampoo bar

-Babassu deep conditioner

My hair is my baby. I have come a long way before it was possible for me to love it, I talk about that struggle in my natural hair journey.

So I always pamper the hell out of it. That’s why I NEED these Obia naturals products.

I have seen a lot of amazing reviews of their products, so they had to be on my wishlist because I really really really want to try them.

Their products are all natural, and vegan, which means it is probably tailored to all hair types.

However, there is a drawback the company is based in the USA. That means even after buying, shipping will be a long thing but I am still hoping sha.Check out their website .

2. King and Steven Tote bags(KS tote bags) :

I am sure I am not the only one that stalks the IG pages of some brands looking at and wishing for their stuff.

If I am the only one, it’s still okay 😒, but that’s how I am always looking at KS totes IG page ( which you should check out here by the way).

I have decided that I need a KS tote maybe it’s just envy that Desmond at quirksandoutfits got his own but I want mine too.

One can never have enough bags.

3. A backpack from @thethriftstoreng :

Continuing from my declaration above, this next item is another bag.

I was so close to getting this one last month, but because of work I couldn’t get to the bank to pay on time and someone else got my backpack (Yes, I still think it’s mine) before me.

Did I cry? No, but the pain was breakup level kind of pain 😢😢. But you guys I feel it: This month is my month, I must get one.

P.S. here is a link to the IG page

4. Perfume :

Last year I was left without a perfume. Read why in this post .

So I have been finding alternative means to spritz up. But you know, I am starting to think it does not behove a young lady like yours truly to be sneaking into her parents room anytime she wants to spray perfume.

But you know, I am starting to think it does not behove a young lady like yours truly to be sneaking… Click To Tweet

Plus my mother’s own is getting too much, counting the number of spritzs I am allowed when she catches me 😒…..Seriously mummy? So I must get mine this month.

I want something that isn’t too feminine – no smelling like flowers. But at the same time isn’t too strong – nothing like Boss Orange here ; that thing can strangle your nose.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Please tell me in the comments.(P.S. money is DEFINITELY an object).

5. A pair of Pumps :

In the same vein, I want to get myself a really good pair of pumps or court shoes.

I am willing to spend a bit more money here because I want something that will last.

My shoe size is 41/42. This baffles me because I am not tall. I am about 5 foot 7 inches, so why?

But it’s the struggle 😔. I also welcome suggestions here. As regards to colour, I am thinking black or navy blue? Tell me what you think.

So there you have it, my wishlist for the month and I only have 27 days to make it happen 😲.

Please remember to drop your thoughts and suggestions in the comment box.

I would also love for you to subscribe, don’t worry I won’t fill up your inbox, just a monthly ‘hey how are you’ to bring you up to speed on the latest blog posts and special offers.
